O&H secures planning consent

Elmbridge Borough Council has given the go-ahead for O&H Properties to begin the re-development of Walton-on-Thames town centre. The Council’s North Area Planning Sub-Committee granted planning consent on Wednesday evening (30th June), allowing significant improvements, made by O&H and their professional team, to the earlier town centre proposal to proceed.

Demolition has been completed on site and construction work is planned to start on the scheme in the next few weeks, allowing the retail element to open for trading in Spring 2006. Phased handover of the residential element will commence thereafter.

Alison Allen, Property Director of O&H comments:
“Following the disappointment and frustration experienced by many local residents since development plans started for this key site, we are delighted to confirm that planning consent has now been granted, helping to secure the long term prosperity of Walton-on-Thames. Over the last five months our team have worked very hard to help us ensure the scheme is started sooner rather than later and we now look forward to developing our plans to create a sustainable future for Walton-on-Thames.”

Finally! The scheme gets the go-ahead.

Walton-on-Thames.org is pleased to announce that the much delayed town centre redevelopment scheme has finally been approved, work is now set to begin in the next few weeks.

Trading for retailers has been especially difficult over the past few years with many running at a loss. The scheme should hopefully ensure that our town centre has a viable future and that we all have a town that we can be proud of.
